Behind the scenes of UA Little Rock’s annual Flu Shot Day

The nursing students at UA Little Rock got a lot of good practice in giving shots on Wednesday, Oct. 17 when the Office of Health Services hosted its annual Campus Wide Flu Vaccine Campaign.  More than 900 students, staff, and faculty got their flu shots at the event at the Donaghey Student Center.

It was free to everyone, but those with health insurance were encouraged to bring their insurance cards to help defray the cost. This year’s vaccine is a single-dose flu shot administered by injection into the upper arm.

“Faculty and students are encouraged to get vaccinated to maintain optimal health,” said Marie Sandusky, Director of Health Services.

The campus-wide flu vaccine campaign collaborated with the nursing school to deliver this event professionally and safely. Participants can sign up for the flu shot on campus in the Donaghey Student Center and The William H. Bowen School of Law at 1201 McMath Avenue.
