CRE8 at the Windgate Center of Art + Design

Administration, faculty, students and patrons came together Feb. 16 to open UA Little Rock’s newest building in style.

The Windgate Center of Art + Design was the setting for an open house scholarship fundraiser dubbed “CRE8: Celebrating the Windgate Charitable Foundation.” Attendees had a lot to celebrate, as a $20.3 million donation from the foundation catalyzed the construction of the new, 64,600-square-foot facility.

Construction on the facility began in late 2016, and the building opened for students at the beginning of the 2018 spring semester. The UA Little Rock Office of Alumni and Development has also begun a $3 million fundraising campaign for art scholarships.

3-D design, printmaking, ceramics and blacksmithing were just a few media on display for the public to see at the fundraiser. Check out the slideshow below for a sneak peek at the new home of UA Little Rock’s Department of Art and Design!
